CMS migration — overview

CMS migration — price, timeline & scope

Migration from one CMS to another is moving a site from one content management system (CMS) to another: for example, from an outdated or expensive platform to a modern and convenient one. We move the content (texts, images, products), rebuild the design and templates on the new CMS, set up the structure and protect SEO — we point the old page addresses through 301 redirects to minimize the risk of losing rankings and traffic. Unlike moving to a new hosting (see the “Website hosting migration” service), where the site stays on the same CMS and just changes the server, migration changes the platform itself — it is more complex and affects the content, the templates and the functionality. And URL restructuring (see the “URL restructuring + 301 redirects” service) is about changing addresses on the same site, not about changing the platform. And it is not building a site from scratch: the content and meaning are preserved, the system under them changes. Important about the design: moving to a new CMS is an adaptation and rebuild of the familiar look, not an automatic clone; how closely we reproduce the appearance depends on the capabilities of the new platform. Picture this: a site on old Joomla that is hard to update and grow — we move it to a modern CMS, keeping the pages, texts and, where possible, the positions in Yandex and Google. The base price starts from 80,000 ₽ for small and medium sites; for online stores and large projects the cost is calculated individually and may differ noticeably.

Problems we solve

  • Your current CMS is outdated, expensive or inconvenient — the site is hard to grow, and you are afraid to change it and lose rankings.
  • You are afraid that SEO will “fall off” during the move and traffic will drop — that is the main risk of migration.
  • There is a lot of content (pages, products, images) — moving it manually is slow and error-prone.
  • The design and custom features are tied to the old CMS — it is unclear what and how will be preserved on the new one.

What's included in the CMS migration service

  • Content migration: texts, images, products, categories
  • Building the design and templates on the new CMS — we adapt the familiar look as far as the platform allows (or improve it)
  • Preserving the structure and addresses: a map of old URLs → new ones
  • 301 redirects from the old addresses — reducing the risk of losing rankings and traffic
  • SEO migration: title, description, markup, sitemap, robots
  • A post-move check: broken links, indexing, forms, speed
  • A backup of the old site and a careful switchover without downtime
  • Support in the first weeks: we monitor rankings and quickly fix small things

What you get

  • The site runs on a new, convenient CMS — easy to grow and update
  • The SEO risk is minimized: with correct redirects, rankings and traffic move over carefully (temporary fluctuations are possible, we track them)
  • All the content is in place — nothing is lost in the move
  • The familiar look is adapted or improved — users barely notice the “move”

How the work goes: steps

  • You leave a request and show the current site and its CMS
  • We draw up a plan: the URL map, what we move, which new CMS, the SEO and functionality risks
  • We move the content and design, set up redirects, check and launch, then provide support

FAQ

  • Will search rankings drop after the migration?

An SEO drop is the main risk of any migration, and we work specifically to minimize it: we preserve the address structure, set up 301 redirects from old URLs to new ones, move title/description and markup, and check indexing. But honestly: when changing the platform, temporary fluctuations in rankings in the first weeks are possible (search engines re-index the site), and we cannot guarantee their complete absence. Our job is to keep the maximum of traffic and restore positions quickly, so we support the move and monitor it.

  • How is migration different from moving to a new hosting?

Moving to a hosting (see the “Website hosting migration” service) is a change of server, while the CMS and the site stay the same. Migration is a change of the CMS (the platform) itself: we move the content and rebuild the templates and functionality on the new system. Hosting is “moving to a different house with the same furniture”; migration is “changing the system itself while keeping the contents”.

  • Will the design be preserved or different?

The content and structure are always preserved. The design is an adaptation and rebuild on the new CMS: we can reproduce the familiar look as closely as possible (as far as the new platform allows) or improve it at the same time. An exact pixel-perfect “clone” is not always possible — it depends on the chosen CMS, and we discuss this upfront.
