Migration from one CMS to another is moving a site from one content management system (CMS) to another: for example, from an outdated or expensive platform to a modern and convenient one. We move the content (texts, images, products), rebuild the design and templates on the new CMS, set up the structure and protect SEO — we point the old page addresses through 301 redirects to minimize the risk of losing rankings and traffic. Unlike moving to a new hosting (see the “Website hosting migration” service), where the site stays on the same CMS and just changes the server, migration changes the platform itself — it is more complex and affects the content, the templates and the functionality. And it is not building a site from scratch: the content and meaning are preserved, the system under them changes. Important about the design: moving to a new CMS is an adaptation and rebuild of the familiar look, not an automatic clone; how closely we reproduce the appearance depends on the capabilities of the new platform. Picture this: a site on old Joomla that is hard to update and grow — we move it to a modern CMS, keeping the pages, texts and, where possible, the positions in Yandex and Google. • Will search rankings drop after the migration?

  An SEO drop is the main risk of any migration, and we work specifically to minimize it: we preserve the address structure, set up 301 redirects from old URLs to new ones, move title/description and markup, and check indexing. But honestly: when changing the platform, temporary fluctuations in rankings in the first weeks are possible (search engines re-index the site), and we cannot guarantee their complete absence. Our job is to keep the maximum of traffic and restore positions quickly, so we support the move and monitor it.

• How is migration different from moving to a new hosting?

  Moving to a hosting (see the “Website hosting migration” service) is a change of server, while the CMS and the site stay the same. Migration is a change of the CMS (the platform) itself: we move the content and rebuild the templates and functionality on the new system. Hosting is “moving to a different house with the same furniture”; migration is “changing the system itself while keeping the contents”.

• Will the design be preserved or different?

  The content and structure are always preserved. The design is an adaptation and rebuild on the new CMS: we can reproduce the familiar look as closely as possible (as far as the new platform allows) or improve it at the same time. An exact pixel-perfect “clone” is not always possible — it depends on the chosen CMS, and we discuss this upfront.
