5-second testing
We conduct 5-second testing: we show users a page for 5 seconds, then ask what they remembered and understood — what it is about, for whom, what is the main thing. We check the FIRST impression: is the essence grasped at a glance. Honestly upfront: a 5-second test checks SPECIFICALLY the first impression and clarity of the key message, NOT full usability, navigation or the whole path; it is a fast narrow method; and conclusions depend on the sample and what exactly you want to check.
5-second testing — overview

5-second testing is a method for checking the first impression: a participant is shown a page (usually the homepage or a landing) for 5 seconds, then the screen is removed and questions are asked: what is this page about? for whom? what is the main thing/what is offered? what was memorable? This shows whether the key message and hierarchy are grasped at a glance — critical, since users decide in seconds whether to stay or leave. Honestly about what is checked, this is key: a 5-second test checks the FIRST IMPRESSION and clarity of the main message — is it immediately clear what the page is about and what matters. It does NOT check full usability, navigation, task completion or the whole user path (5 seconds is physically too little for that). It is a fast and narrow tool about 'does it hook and is it clear right away', not a comprehensive UX assessment. Honestly about complementary methods: a 5-sec test answers 'is the message clear right away', usability testing (953) — 'is it convenient to use', first-click (955) — 'is the first step clear'. Different questions. Honestly about sample and focus: conclusions depend on the number of participants and what exactly you want to learn (you must define in advance which message should be grasped). A vague goal — a vague result. Honestly about 'shows, does not fix': the test reveals that the message is not grasped or the wrong one is, but reworking the page/hierarchy must be done separately. Honestly about the effect: it quickly and cheaply checks the clarity of the first impression (important for landings/homepages), but it is one aspect, not a usability or conversion guarantee. Honestly about access: a page/mockup and access to participants are needed. An important boundary: this is the first impression; full usability — 953; first click — 955; structure findability — 954. Picture this: instead of 'we get what the page is about' — data on what strangers grasp in 5 seconds. The base price starts from 12,000 ₽ (depends on the number of participants).

FAQ
Does a 5-second test assess site usability?
No, honestly: it checks SPECIFICALLY the first impression and clarity of the main message — is it immediately clear what the page is about and what matters. Full usability, navigation, task completion cannot be checked in 5 seconds physically. It is a narrow tool about 'does it hook and is it clear right away'. For assessing usability as a whole there is usability testing (953). We honestly separate them.
Is it a reliable method?
For its purpose — yes, honestly, but the purpose is narrow. It reliably shows whether the key message is grasped at a glance (critical for landings and homepages). Conclusions depend on the sample and what exactly you want to check — you must define in advance which message should be grasped, otherwise the result is vague. We build this in and honestly state the method's limits.
Will the test improve the page by itself?
No, honestly: the test reveals that the message is not grasped or the wrong one is, but reworking the page and hierarchy must be done separately (content/design/accent edits). Seeing a problem ≠ fixing it. We give conclusions on message clarity, while improvement can be done separately and re-checked with a new test if desired.
