Marketplace from scratch

A marketplace is a platform where many independent sellers list their goods or services, and buyers find, order and pay for them right on the site. Unlike a regular single-seller store (see “Online store from scratch”) and unlike an aggregator that only compares offers and links out to other sites (see “Aggregator website”), a marketplace completes the deal on itself: it takes payment, withholds a commission and pays out to the seller. For example: a buyer pays for an order on the site → the money arrives in the platform account → the system withholds your commission → the rest is paid out to the seller, and the order goes to them. This is development for a non-standard model — with its own commission logic, special roles, integrations and scenarios that ready solutions do not offer. If a standard multi-vendor on a ready platform fits you, choose the faster and cheaper “Marketplace (multi-vendor)” service; a from-scratch marketplace is needed when a ready solution does not cover your logic. The base price starts from 450,000 ₽ for a minimal working marketplace; the total depends on the model, roles and integrations.

  A ready multi-vendor solution is faster and cheaper — choose it if your model is standard: sellers, products, commission, standard roles. A from-scratch marketplace is needed when the logic is non-standard: special roles, your own commission and settlement scheme, non-standard deals or integrations that ready platforms do not offer.

• How do payment and commission work?

  Payment goes through a payment service that supports payment splitting: money is divided between the platform (commission) and the seller. Automatic splitting is not available for every product category and model — it depends on the law, party identification and acquiring.
