Single bug fix

A single bug fix is the targeted repair of one specific error on an already working site. Something broke or works wrong: a form does not send a request, a page throws an error, the layout is broken on mobile, a button does not click, the cart counts incorrectly — we find the cause and fix exactly that. Unlike refactoring (see the “Legacy code refactoring” service), where the code is tidied up and rewritten as a whole, a bug fix does not touch the rest — only the specific breakage. It is the fastest and cheapest service in site improvement: it suits when you urgently need to bring one thing back, not rebuild the site. The base price starts from 5,000 ₽ for diagnosing and fixing one simple problem (for example, repairing a form, fixing the layout of a block, removing an error on a page); complex bugs in old code or a heavy CMS are estimated higher. Sometimes a breakage cannot be fixed in a targeted way without reworking the core of the site — then we honestly explain in plain words what is going on and what the options are, and the decision stays with you. Picture this: yesterday the request form worked, today clients write that the “submit” button does not react — we find the cause and bring the form back.

• How is a bug fix different from refactoring?

  Refactoring (see the “Legacy code refactoring” service) is tidying up the code as a whole: rewriting, simplifying, speeding up. A bug fix is repairing one specific breakage without touching the rest. One broken thing (a form, a button, the layout of a block) — that is a bug fix; the code as a whole is heavy and needs clearing up — that is refactoring. If fixing the bug would mean rewriting half the site, we will say so right away.

• What if there are several problems?

  This service is about one specific problem and its price. If there are several, we estimate each separately or offer a package or an improvement project. That way you pay for what is really needed, not for a “just-in-case package”.

• What if the cause turns out to be deeper?

  Sometimes a visible breakage is a symptom of a bigger problem (old code, a plugin conflict). We diagnose it and tell you in plain words whether a targeted fix is enough or a bigger repair is needed — the decision is yours, and you do not pay for a blind repair.
