Synthetic monitoring
We set up synthetic performance and availability monitoring: automated checks run on a schedule from different locations (loading of key pages, response time, scenarios), with alerts on drops. To catch degradation and failures even without live traffic and stably compare 'before/after'. Honestly upfront: this is an ongoing (monthly) service — monitoring DETECTS and alerts but does not improve speed by itself; and synthetic is lab measurements, not real users.
Synthetic monitoring — overview

Synthetic monitoring is an ongoing (monthly) service with setup: we set up regular automated checks of key pages/scenarios from defined locations (load time, Lighthouse metrics, availability, response correctness), thresholds and alerts on worsening, a trends dashboard. Honestly about the essence, this is key: monitoring DETECTS degradation and alerts but does NOT improve speed by itself — optimization is separate work; someone must react to an alert. Honestly about synthetic vs real users: synthetic checks run in controlled conditions (stable, repeatable, catch regressions after releases even without traffic) — that is their plus; but they do NOT reflect the real experience of all users (their devices/networks) — for that you need RUM (730); the methods complement each other, not replace. Honestly about false positives/misses: thresholds are tunable, false alarms (external failures, networks) and misses are possible; we calibrate. Honestly about data/cost: synthetic monitoring services (if paid) — separately. Honestly about the effect: it helps catch drops and failures early, but we do NOT guarantee position/sales growth by itself. Honestly about access: access to the site/scenarios is needed. An important boundary: this is synthetic monitoring, not RUM by real users (730 — separate), not Lighthouse budget in CI (732 — at build) and not optimization (706). Picture this: instead of 'learning of degradation from complaints' you get an alert from a regular check at the moment of a drop. The base price starts from 12,000 ₽ per month; it depends on the number of checks/locations and the service.
Problems we solve
- You learn of speed/availability degradation late, from complaints.
- There are no stable repeatable 'before/after' measurements.
- Regressions after releases go unnoticed without traffic.
- You do not track key pages from different locations.
What's included in the Synthetic monitoring service
- Setting up regular checks of key pages/scenarios
- Measurements from defined locations (load, Lighthouse, availability)
- Thresholds and alerts on worsening
- A performance/availability trends dashboard
- Calibration (fewer false alarms)
- Monthly operation and tuning
- An alert channel of your choice
- Reviewing data with you (optimization/fix — separate)
What you get
- Degradation and failures caught early, on schedule
- Stable repeatable measurements for comparison
- Regressions after releases visible without traffic
- A signal to act (the speedup itself — separate)
How the work goes: steps
- We clarify pages/scenarios, locations, thresholds, alert channel; collect access
- We set up checks, the dashboard and alerts, calibrate
- We launch operation, review drops (the fix — separate)
Why PDV Expert
- Fixed price and timeline — no surprises on the invoice.
- Report and recommendations in plain language — clear without a technical background.
- In touch at every step and answering questions about the result.
FAQ
Will synthetic monitoring speed up the site?
No. It detects degradation and alerts but does not improve speed by itself — optimization is separate work. Someone must react to an alert; the value of monitoring is early detection, not speedup.
How is synthetic different from RUM?
Synthetic is lab checks in controlled conditions (stable, catch regressions even without traffic); RUM (730) is real users (their devices/networks). Synthetic does not reflect everyone's experience; the methods complement each other, not replace.
Will there be false alarms?
They are possible (external failures, networks) along with misses — a threshold balance. We calibrate to reduce them, but a perfect monitor does not exist. Synthetic monitoring services, if paid, are billed separately.
