Crypto payments is the connection of cryptocurrency payment acceptance through specialized services (Coinbase Commerce, BitPay, NOWPayments, CryptoCloud, etc.): a client pays in BTC, USDT, ETH and other coins, and if you wish you receive fiat right away — the service converts the cryptocurrency into ordinary money. We set up the payment form, address/invoice generation, on-chain transaction confirmation, status webhooks and linking to orders. Importantly and honestly, first of all about the law: the legal status of cryptocurrency as a means of payment strongly depends on the country, and for a business in Russia this is a sensitive matter — accepting cryptocurrency in payment for goods and services for residents carries significant legal restrictions and risk. We are technical integrators: we do not give legal advice but flag the known restrictions and risks; whether it is legal in your specific case must be checked with your lawyer before launch, and the final decision is theirs. If the law does not allow it for you, we will say so rather than take money for something that would put you in breach. Also honestly about volatility: a crypto rate jumps, so instant conversion to fiat is usually set up — you lock the amount in roubles or dollars and do not depend on the BTC rate. You can also accept and hold crypto, but that is your deliberate currency risk. And honestly about refunds: crypto has no chargebacks — that is both a plus (no one reverses a payment after the fact) and a minus (an erroneous payment is not cancelled automatically; a refund is done manually). Also about compliance: the services run KYC/AML, while taxes and accounting for crypto revenue are a separate story, also for your accountant and lawyer. And about volume: most businesses do not need crypto — it is a niche channel (an international audience, the crypto community, donations). If you have no such demand — for example, your clients are mainly Russian and you do not operate internationally — crypto will add risk without benefit, and we will honestly talk you out of it. Picture this: a client from the crypto community pays for an order in USDT, the service instantly converts it to fiat, and in your system the order is paid in roubles — without rate swings. The base price starts from 50,000 ₽; it depends on the service, the coins and the scenarios; the legal side you work through separately. The base price covers a typical service and basic coins; many coins, a non-standard business or geography cost more.

• Is accepting cryptocurrency even legal?

  It depends on the country and your business, and that is a legal question, not a technical one. In Russia, accepting cryptocurrency in payment for goods and services for residents is restricted by law, so we — as technical integrators — cannot say “you may”. This must be checked with your lawyer before launch. We do not give legal advice but will point out the known restrictions and risks — the final check is done by your lawyer. If the law does not allow it, we will honestly talk you out of it and not take money for something that would put you in breach.

• What if the crypto rate falls after payment?

  To avoid depending on the rate, instant conversion is usually set up: the client pays in crypto, the service immediately converts it to fiat, and you receive a fixed amount in roubles or dollars. You can also hold crypto if you want — but then the currency risk is your deliberate choice. We will advise how to set this up for your strategy.

• Can an erroneous crypto payment be refunded?

  Not automatically: cryptocurrency has no chargebacks like cards do. That is a plus — a payment is not disputed after the fact — but also a minus: an erroneous or disputed payment is not cancelled by itself, a refund is done manually and by agreement. We will set up a refund process, but you cannot “roll back” a transaction the way you can with a card: the network will not reverse it and a bank will not return the money. A refund is only possible as a separate new transaction initiated by you and agreed with the customer — that is a property of the technology, and it is more honest to say so up front.
