International payment gateways — overview

International payment gateways — price, timeline & scope

International gateways is the connection of international payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal, Adyen, Checkout.com, Braintree, etc.) to your website or product: accepting cards, wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay), payment in different currencies, subscriptions, refunds and webhooks about payment status. We set up a secure payment form, card tokenization, 3-D Secure, error handling, linking payments to orders in your system and a test mode. Importantly and honestly, the main thing first: an international gateway is not available from every country. Stripe, for example, signs a contract only with a company registered in one of the supported jurisdictions — to accept payments you need a legal entity where the gateway operates. That is not our integration work but your matter of registration and a bank, and we will flag it honestly before the start, not after. Also honestly about security: to avoid the full PCI burden, we use the gateway’s secure hosted form — your systems never see or store card numbers, they are tokenized. That is correct and safe, but it means some of the flexibility stays on the gateway’s side. And honestly about money: each gateway has its own fees, payout rules (timing, minimum amounts), currency conversion and chargeback holds — these are the provider’s terms, not our rates; we will help compare, but the contract and verification (KYC) you go through with the gateway itself. Picture this: a client from another country pays for an order by card in their own currency, the payment passes 3-D Secure, the order in your system is immediately marked paid, and the money goes to your account by the gateway’s rules. The base price starts from 45,000 ₽ for integrating one gateway; it depends on the number of gateways, the scenarios (subscriptions, a marketplace) and your system.

Problems we solve

  • You cannot accept payment from foreign clients — you lose orders.
  • You want Stripe or PayPal, but it is unclear whether they are available to you and how to connect.
  • You are afraid to store card data and fall under PCI DSS requirements.
  • Payments are not linked to orders — you reconcile by hand.

FAQ

  • Can we connect Stripe from Russia?

Not directly: Stripe signs a contract only with a company from a supported country, and a Russian legal entity is not on their list. To accept payments through such a gateway you need a legal entity where it operates — that is a matter of your registration and a bank, not of the integration. We will say so honestly up front: if you already have a suitable entity, we will connect it; if not, we will suggest alternatives (including Russian gateways, see the respective service) rather than take money for something that technically will not work.

  • Is it safe to store clients’ cards?

We do not store them — and that is correct. Card data is entered into the gateway’s own secure form and tokenized; you keep only a token, not the card number. This way you avoid the heavy PCI DSS compliance needed by those who store cards themselves — usually only a minimal self-assessment (SAQ-A) remains. It is safer and cheaper to maintain.

  • What will the fees be?

These are the gateway’s rates, not ours: each has its own percentages, payout rules, timing and chargeback holds. They depend on the country, turnover and card types. We will help compare gateways by availability and cost for your situation, but the contract and verification (KYC) you go through with the provider itself — those are its terms, and it is more honest to say so in advance. We explain the technical differences between gateways but do not provide legal or banking consulting on opening accounts or passing KYC. And note: a provider may suspend an account even after go-live under its own KYC rules — that is on their side, not the integration.
