WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility audit

An accessibility audit (WCAG 2.1 AA) is a one-time check of how usable your site is for people with vision, hearing, motor and cognitive impairments: keyboard navigation without a mouse, correct screen-reader behavior (NVDA, VoiceOver), text and element contrast, alternative text on images, clear labels and error messages in forms, semantic structure and ARIA, focus management, captions and alternatives for media. The goal is to find accessibility barriers and give a prioritized plan by WCAG criteria. Honestly about the main point: this is diagnosis with recommendations, not implementation, not certification and not a legal compliance guarantee. Important: automated checks catch only some problems (by various estimates, less than half), the rest is checked manually and in assistive technologies; "a 100% accessible site" or "full WCAG compliance" cannot be promised from a single tool run — real accessibility is confirmed by screen-reader tests and, ideally, by users with disabilities themselves. We are not lawyers: if you need accessibility by law (government sites and GOST R 52872 in Russia, ADA/Section 508, EN 301 549 abroad), the final legal assessment is given by a specialist — we prepare the technical part. The more access we have (CMS, code, closed sections), the deeper the audit; with an external-only review some barriers may go unseen — we will note that honestly. A separate warning: automatic "accessibility overlay widgets" (a "one-click accessibility" panel) more often mask problems than solve them, and the professional community does not recommend relying on them. It is a snapshot in time: after fixes and site changes accessibility changes. What you get: a report with barriers by priority and WCAG criteria (A/AA), with an explanation of "whom it hinders and how" and recommendations; implementing the fixes is separate work. And even after implementing all the recommendations, the final decision on compliance or certification is made by an external specialist: the audit lowers barriers and gives a foundation, but it is not a "compliance passport". If the site is very simple or accessibility is already good, we will honestly say we will find little. Picture this: instead of "the site is inaccessible" you learn that the form cannot be filled in from the keyboard, half the images have no alt, and the button contrast is below the AA threshold. "100% compliance" cannot be promised from a single tool run: automated tests catch less than half the problems, the rest is manual checking and screen readers, ideally with users themselves.

• Is this a legal guarantee of compliance with the law?

  No, we are not lawyers and not a certification body. We prepare the technical part by WCAG 2.1 AA. The legal assessment for a specific law (GOST R 52872 in Russia, ADA/Section 508, EN 301 549) is given by a specialist — our report helps them.

• Is an automated check enough?

  No. Automated tools find only some of the violations (often less than half), while the key things — logic for a screen reader, clarity, focus management — are checked manually. So we combine automated and manual checks.
